It started with a flight.
The idea for Tide & Tor wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born on the breezy clifftops of South Devon. After years of flying the stunning coastal sites of Devon and Cornwall, I had a “lightbulb” moment during a session on a new high-performance wing. The inflation was effortless, the handling was intuitive, and the “feel” in the air was a complete revelation.
As I shared that excitement with local pilots, I realised there was a gap in our community. Despite having some of the finest soaring terrain in the UK, the South West lacked a dedicated, active dealer presence. To try a new wing, pilots often had to travel for hours or buy “blind” based on magazine reviews.
I believed our region deserved better. Our coastline is littered with world-class sites—from technical ridges to expansive coastal runs—many with launch-side parking. I realized there is no better way to find your perfect wing than to test-fly it at your “home” site, in the conditions you know best. That’s why Tide & Tor was created.
